Achievement

IGERT Associate Thomas Scherr has been a graduate mentor to an undergraduate student through the LSU Chancellor's Future Leaders in Research Program, following the lead of past IGERT Fellows. This has embodied the interdisciplinary nature of IGERT, becasue the undergraduate student was a Biological Engineering major, while Scherr's training (both undergraduate and graduate) was in chemical engineering. She has been working under his direct guidance, performing computer simulations and data analysis. From this project, Scherr and the student he mentors are currently preparing to submit a publication.
