Research Achievements
Physical/digital social media
NSF-funded IGERT trainees and associates in the Reflective Living Group of our IGERT are producing significant innovations in hybrid physical/digital social media systems. The developed systems promote workplace collaboration, enhance community awareness and encourage reflection on activity. NextSlidePlease (lead by trainee Spicer), is a novel slideware application that uses a directed graph approach to facilitate the agile presentation of complex data. Taskville (led by trainee Nikkila), is a distributed social media workplace game played by teams on public displays. Designed to support personal reflection and improve team awareness, Taskville uses a city building metaphor to represent the completion of tasks within an organization. Building with a Memory (lead by trainee Danielescu) captures and represents dynamic human activity in a multi-use workplace. All three systems have generated publications at top digital media venues (ACM MM and TOMCCAP, CHI etc).
