Development of a summer seminar program series on ethics: One of the earlier survey feedbacks from students in the first IGERT class was that they would like to look at how different disciplines in our IGERT view ethics similarly or differently. A major project over the summer was to have different disciplines present the ethics codes and ethical frameworks utilized within their disciplines. The seminar series began with a general, cross-disciplinary discussion of ethics and ended with each of the four disciplines individually presenting discipline-specific ethics items to all IGERT disciplines, to further explore commonalities and unique attributes of each discipline's code of ethics and ethical frameworks. This was remarkable for being an entirely student-led effort, which will be followed up on this summer.
