Trainee benefits from faculty collaborations
During this academic school year, PhD trainee Saba Siddiki has greatly benefited from the opportunity to collaborate with IGERT faculty. In December of 2011, Ms. Siddiki co-authored and submitted a grant to the National Science Foundation with an interdisciplinary team of IGERT faculty to conduct an institutional and behavioral analysis of the U.S. National Organic Program. Additionally, during this time, Ms. Siddiki collaborated with an IGERT faculty member from her home discipline to produce a paper in which they examined the extent to which possessing interdisciplinary competencies fosters learning among participants of collaborative partnerships involved in the aquaculture industry. These projects, and others have helped to prepare her for a career in academia. In January 2012, Ms. Siddiki will start a position as an Assistant Professor at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
