Achievement

We are providing many opportunities for students to present their research or their preliminary reports to their peers and advisors. We feel this gives students additional opportunities to finely tune presentation skills, both oral and data presentation, and also allows them to experience a teaching environment. While this is a continuing theme in our reporting, e.g., honing presentation skills, we see the need for students to gain confidence in public speaking, asking and answering questions in a clear, concise manner, and being able to organize information to reveal a compelling story. Several of the students have a talent for teaching, and being able to identify this talent and interest early in their graduate experience provides for better advisor mentoring.
