Achievement

High-level staff from conservation organizations and government agencies feel that training in conflict mediation is a critical part of the education of graduate students who seek to work in biological conservation within the non-profit or governmental sector. As a result, we included in our fall core course a week of instruction from a faculty member who teaches conflict resolution. The students were extremely engaged during this unit and remarked about its utility and importance. One student wrote, "This was an important section for me. I think I would really enjoy this kind of work. I plan to follow up with more formal conflict mediation training."
