Implications of thawing permafrost to humans
Trainee Allison Butler Woodward has undertaken research on the implications of thawing permafrost to humans, using two communities of northern Alaska (Selawik and Anaktuvuk Pass) as case studies. Her work has drawn on interviews to document perceptions on climate change, repeat photography to assess historical changes to community infrastructure, and videography to document traditional knowledge. Her work contributes a human dimension to a larger NSF project on thermokarst dynamics.
