Bi-weekly discussion led by trainees
A regular activity in our IGERT program is a bi-weekly discussion group held on Wednesday evenings. Guided by the trainees themselves, the format includes student research seminars, presentations from invited faculty and staff, and discussions of current literature. These meetings are advertised throughout the university and we encourage participation from the community. This year, many of the meetings have been used by the trainees to present their current research. This is a valuable way for the students to practice their presentation skills and receive input on their work from an interdisciplinary perspective. Also this year, the students invited the manager of the Genetics Core Facility to give a presentation about the various services offered by the Core.
