Trainee invited speaker at international meeting
Carlos Perez, a third-year Ph.D. candidate and member of the Drexel/Penn IGERT Traineeship in Nanoscale Science and Engineering was an invited speaker at the 61st Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry in Nice, France. Carlos' talk involved his research on the optimization of supercapacitors: increasing energy storage, decreasing size, and integrating supercapacitors into existing technologies. This work is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Yury Gogotsi of Drexel. Carlos' work has resulted in 3 research papers for peer reviewed journals. Most recently, his work, titled "Flexible Nano-Felts of Carbide Derived Carbon with Ultra-High Power Handling Capability," was published in Advanced Energy Materials. Carlos was also awarded the NSF GK-12 fellowship in 2010 where he works with 11th and 12th grade students at Central High School.
