In-stream nutrient transport
Rebecca Martin completed a comprehensive review entitled "Effect of high flow-events on in-stream dissolved organic nitrogen concentration," which focuses on how hydrologic variability regulates in-stream nutrient transport. The results support the hypothesis that the mobilization of terrestrial organic nitrogen during high flow events contributes to large increases in export during high flow, and a better understanding of terrestrial-aquatic linkages is critical for closing nutrient and organic matter budgets in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
