Trainees complete Gerontechnology sequence
In the second course of the Gerontechnology sequence, students design an in-depth study based on the multidisciplinary project that was defined in the first semester. Students learn about issues related to intellectual property, IRB applications, and grant proposal writing. This past year group projects focused on mobile device-based activity visualization for caregivers, mobile device-based prompting for older adults, Emotiv headsets for thought-based control of devices, tremor analysis and gait analysis to help physicians assess the effectiveness of treaments for Parkinson's patients, and brain imaging to assess vascular health and cognitive function for older adults. Class information is available online at http://eecs.wsu.edu/~cook/gt.
