Research Achievements

New benefit-pricing model

An interdisciplinary team of Sam Evans (IGERT cohort 1, Ag and Resource Economics) along with PIs and students from Economics and Ag & Resource Economics developed a benefit-pricing model that reflects the private and social costs of energy generation for a potential Colorado legislative policy tool, thereby merging economics and policy approaches. The team worked with the CO Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) to propose the new economics approach to benefit both the utility entities and CO citizens. Products of this project include a report to GEO and a poster (S. Evans, “Designing a Technology-Neutral, Benefit Pricing Policy for the Electric Power Sector in Colorado”) presented at the Cenergy Expo, CSU. GEO is considering implementation of the project’s goals to CO legislative policy.
