Trainee completes international rotation
IGERT trainee Sean Quirin, from Prof. Piestun group, spent three months in Switzerland as part of an IGERT funded International Rotation. Working at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne with Prof. Hans-Peter Herzig, Sean developed fabrication techniques of phase masks for imaging applications, a subject of critical interest for his research at the University of Colorado. He was also able to attend and present his research work at a first class European scientific meeting, such as the European Optical Society Annual Meeting that took place in Paris, France, in October of 2010. This turned out to be his first experience attending an European scientific conference.
