Achievement

The interdisciplinary coursework offered by the IGERT program has advanced the students' research. The class "Energy in the 21st Century" gave background knowledge in the energy field, offering information on both renewable and non-renewable sources. Business and economic background introduced in another course "Economics, Marketing, and Strategy" prepared the students to apply economic concepts to their own area of research. One student is investigating the economics behind a number of solar technologies, including concentrating photovoltaics and concentrating solar power, in order to compare their levelized costs of energy to other sources.
