Achievement

One IGERT core research team has had particular success in combining into one comprehensive research team. Within the first year of working on the IGERT project, together with their faculty mentors, team members have submitted two articles on research findings to refereed journals that cross discipline lines, had four poster sessions, and presented a paper at an international conference. Through this research collaboration, one trainee said in his end-of-year interview, they have "reached a new level of thorough" with the papers they write. Without this collaboration, he continues, "I would have ignored everything that goes on" in regard to the other discipline's processes, viewpoints, and research; another member of the team said the team members' "work has really added to my viewpoint." They have made "significant progress toward finishing the first portion of our research."
