Natural organic matter in drinking water
Deb Dryer, Cohort I: The IGERT has provided me with a number of opportunities to experience first-hand the similarities and differences of environmental problems and solutions facing various parts of the world. My international year in Australia enabled me to work with researchers at the Curtin Water Quality Research Centre at Perth. Our work on how the binding properties of natural organic matter change with pH and copper concentration was published in Water Science and Technology (2008). Two previous publications senior authored by me (2007 and 2008 in Environmental Science and Technology) provided the framework for this comparative study. This comparative research further increases the knowledge of how natural organic matter in drinking water determines the speciation, leaching, and distribution of metal species in different drinking water systems.
