NSF Sustainability Research Network proposed
Four of the IGERT faculty (Culligan, Plunz, Sclar and Modi) collaborated on an NSF Sustainability Research Network proposal that was among the few selected by Columbia University for submission to the NSF pre-proposal competition. The proposal was very well reviewed by the NSF, and was among those that should be invited as possible. The proposal built upon the interdisciplinary research that is emerging from the IGERT and will be improved and resubmitted at a later date. The ability of the IGERT faculty to attract new research funding for interdisciplinary areas emerging from the IGERT program is an important outcome for validating and sustaining the IGERT values.
