Data Curation students write grant proposals
Open data trainees and other students in the Data Curation course wrote grant proposals to actual NSF CFPs. They worked in teams of three or four with students from different areas (CS, Bioinformatics, Information Science, Materials Science, and data curation) to write the abstract, intellectual merit, broader impacts, full 15-page project description and a data management plan. Students served on mock panels to review each other’s proposals. As a consequence of this activity the students are prepared to respond to requests for proposals and serve as reviewers.
