Students learn about organizing seminars and symposia
IGERT students learned about organizing seminars and symposia. The student governance group organized an AG seminar which originated out of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and was delivered to all three SD campuses (Prof. Dennis Alexander, Electrical Engineering, UNL, on “Femtosecond Laser Surface Modification Processes for Producing Super-Hydrophobic/super-hydrophilic Material Properties.”)
The student group also submitted a proposal to the Materials Research Society (MRS) to organize a symposium on materials for sustainable energy and energy-focussed IGERT programs. The MRS meeting organizing committee suggested they reformat the plan for a forum rather than a symposium at the 2012 annual meeting.
