Achievement

The annual two-week International Nano-Optoelectronics Workshop (iNOW) that was initiated under the auspices of this IGERT continues to provide participants an opportunity to interact with faculty and graduate students in this research field in a global context, gaining exposure to different cultures and perspectives. From its inception, this program has brought together a significant international community of graduate students from various institutions around the world, held in different sites chosen both for the scientific and cultural riches of the respective environment. Previous iNOW sites have included St. Petersburg, Russia and Wurzburg, Germany (2011); Bejing and Changchun, China (2010); Stockholm and Berlin (2009); Lake Saiko and Shonan Village, Japan (2008); and Beijing and Lanzhou, China (2007). This year's workshop was held in the US and hosted jointly by Stanford and Berkeley.
