Trainees book receives national attention
IGERT Trainee’s book receives national attention: IGERT faculty member Theda Skocpol and trainee Vanessa Williamson’s book, The Tea Party and the Remaking of Republican Conservatism (Oxford University Press, 2011), has been cited and reviewed in dozens of media outlets since its release, including the New York Times, Washington Post, National Journal, Foreign Policy, the New Yorker, Economist, New York Review of Books, Washington Monthly, and New York magazine. To discuss the book, Skocpol and Williamson have appeared on CNN, C-SPAN, and MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show.” A New York Times article identified the book as “a model of the kind of ambitious work that could emerge in studies of the Occupy movement.” Reviews have praised the book as “the definitive study of the Tea Party” and “exceptionally informative," a work that draws on hundreds of original interviews, survey, and web-based research. It combines rich/nuanced analysis with lively prose to reach a wide audience.
