Trainees contribute to Indoor Air 2011 conference
Our trainees were major contributors to planning and implementation of Indoor Air 2011, an international conference held in Austin in June of 2011. The conference was attended by 1,000 delegates from 47 countries, including 270 graduate students from around the world. Trainees designed and implemented the entire student program (social and technical), which included Ph.D. students as session co-chairs in every technical session, and the design and implementation of a two-day symposium on indoor air quality in developing countries. The symposium was attended by 200 conference participants, and included presentations by students and faculty from around the world, panel discussions, and breakout groups. Trainees also assisted speakers with file uploads, session monitoring, greeting delegates and coordination of conference events. Indoor Air 2011 was a major success, due in large part to IGERT trainees and affiliates who gained invaluable professional experience in the process.
