Colloquium on water conflict established

We have implemented a colloquium where IGERT trainees from the social and policy sciences as well as engineering have studied the water conflict in the Apalachicola Chattahoochee Flint (ACF) basin. In this colloquium, we have created an informal environment where interdisciplinary teams of engineering and social science students are able to identify novel research topics from an on-going, real world water conflict and prepare case studies that address different aspects of the conflict where natural, societal and political processes are in conflict.

Faculty and outside speakers guided the students towards refining their research questions and and helped them develop potential approaches for addressing the conflict.
