Applied Bioinformatics summer course developed
Co-PI Sandra Rodriguez-Zas has developed a new course in Applied Bioinformatics that will be offered each summer for the IGERT trainees. This class will also be made available to students from other graduate programs on campus. The first run of this class is this summer (in anticipation of participation of the first class of IGERT students next summer. Applied bioinformatics integrates concepts in biology, statistics, computer and information sciences to effectively use the bioinformatic resources available. The course combines lectures and hands-on experiences that facilitate the students' understanding of concepts and a wide range of commonly used databases and tools.
