UT Energy Symposium launched
The UT Energy Symposium, a multi-disciplinary platform for UT faculty and students to interact on the most pressing energy issues facing our world, was launched in 2011; IGERT trainee Matthew Charlton assists in organizing this seminar series. The UT ES acts as a “convener” for the campus community, uniting students interested in energy issues with faculty and others in research and dialogue on sustainable energy and energy security. Speakers for spring 2012 addressed such issues as "Utility of the Future"; "The Future of Water in Texas, and What It Means for Energy"; "Americans’ Vehicle and Travel Choices: Opportunities for Plug-In Vehicles in the Nation’s Fleet Evolution"; "What the Characteristics of Wind and Solar Electric Power Production Mean for Their Future"; "Assessing the Perceived and Real and Environmental Consequences of Shale Gas Development"; "Simulating Complex Systems: Applications to Energy." A complete list appears in an Appendix to this report.
