Neutron scattering analysis
IGERT Trainee M. Everett is studying a material that lends itself toward neutron scattering analysis. The proposal she wrote for neutron beam time for the POWGEN instrument at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) was accepted, and data, which was of high quality, was collected in December 2011. Data resulting from her beam time has made a significant contribution to her thesis work. The testing was so successful and promising, that she has again submitted a proposal for the next upcoming cycle of beam time.
