Trainee Achievements
Applied math student works with wet lab DNA isolation techniques
A second important educational outcome is the successful training of one trainee in wet-lab genomic DNA isolation and library preparation. The trainee is a PhD student in applied math and had little or no exposure to these techniques beyond conceptual studies in the classroom. By allowing this student to get direct hands-on experience preparing high throughput DNA sequencing libraries is an accomplishment of one of the main integration goals of this project: combining high throughput biology with advanced computational and statistical analysis.
