Achievement

A second added value of the educational experience has been the excitement the faculty has brought to the teaching of the different disciplines. All faculty that have lectured in the Core Course have commented on the excitement of learning material that is goal oriented. While lecturing on the foundation aspects of genomics, or computational problems of genome assembly, or statistical aspects of DNA sequence coverage of environmental samples of microbial communities, faculty have been able to focus on specific ideas that are central to the research-based experiment the students have designed. While there are challenges with obtaining sufficient depth, the integration of relevant material is more effective and efficient.
