Multidisciplinary course on alternative energy technologies
The IGERT program facilitated the development of a multidisciplinary course presenting alternative energy technologies and the associated policies. This is an introductory-level seminar course for graduate students at Georgia Tech and is required for students entering the IGERT program. The objective is to provide students with an introduction to the challenges currently facing our society in the areas of energy production, utilization, storage, and the policies which affect these areas. The seminars provide insights into how advancements in materials can help solve energy challenges as well as how the adoption of new technologies are coupled to policies, both nationally and internationally. In addition, the course highlights instances where policy may also impact technology related research and development (e.g., ITAR and Export Control laws).
