Trainees receive awards and scholarships
Many MILES IGERT trainees have received recognition for their outstanding research, teaching, and outreach activities as evidenced by various awards and scholarships. Amber Hancock was awarded the best graduate mentor for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at Virginia Tech (August 2008), the Society for Free Radical Research Award for Best Poster (November 2008), and the G. Feutrill Award for Best Oral Presentation (December 2008). Kevin Holland received the Food Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Graduate Student at Virginia Tech (May 2009). Paul Sarnoski received the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Foundation Graduate Scholarship Award ($2,000).
