Trainees participate in weekly Aging Traineeship Forum (ATF)
All IGERT trainees are required to participate in a weekly Aging Traineeship Forum (ATF), for which they earn 3 academic credits over the course of the year. This weekly meeting serves multiple purposes: 1) It is a time each week when faculty can present professional training such as how to mentor, skills related to grant-writing, and other topics; 2) this time can be used for students to work on their interdisciplinary year-long problem; 3) students can practice research presentations before professional conferences; and 4) the weekly touch-base keeps IGERT trainees in touch with one another and provides cohesion necessary for a successful training program.
