Trainee Achievements
Four IGERT trainees graduate
During this reporting period, four IGERT trainees graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with PhD degrees and a fifth one with a Master degree from the same institution. Sean Nixon (July 2011, Advisor: Ablowitz) obtained his PhD in Applied Mathematics for his thesis "Development and Applications of Soliton Perturbation Theory", Paul Arpin (December 2011, Advisors: Murnane and Kapteyn) obtained his PhD in Physics for his thesis "Generation and Characterization of Coherent Soft X-Ray Light with High Harmonic Generation", Sean Quirin (February 2012, Advisor: Piestun) obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering for his thesis "Quantitative Optical Imaging and Sensing by Joint Design of Point Spread Functions and Estimation Algorithms", and Daniel Kaslovsky (May 2012, Advisor: Meyer) obtained his PhD in Applied Mathematics for his thesis "Geometric Sparsity in High Dimension". Juan Ramirez Jr. (April 2012, Advisor: Meyer) graduated with a Master degree in Electrical Engineering.
