Advancements in the modeling of deep brain stimulation
A research outcome that was made possible because of the IGERT project, specifically the IGERT lab research rotations, was advancements in the modeling of pedunculopontine nucleus deep brain stimulation based on a human atlas. Through the help of a fellow IGERT trainee (Cory), IGERT trainee Laura Zitella was able to make significant progress on this project than would have not been possible otherwise. Now, we are on our way to completing this aspect of the project in order to compare a non-human atlas-based model to the human one.
