IGERT-MNM multi-dimensional integration
IGERT-MNM has brought together twenty Ph.D. and M.S. students at Norfolk State University, three Ph.D. students at Cornell and three M.S. and Ph.D. students at Purdue to learn, teach and work as an interdisciplinary, multi-campus team. The students’ backgrounds and research foci include several disciplines: biology, chemistry, engineering (optical, mechanical, electronic, education), materials science, mathematics, physics. The IGERT-MNM trainees/associates profile includes 41% female and 41% ethnic/racial STEM under-represented minorities, and 26% of international participants as associate trainees. This diverse body of learners regularly work in teams to support and develop the IGERT-MNM project, learning about different cultures in an inter-disciplinary, inter-gender, inter-racial, inter-ethnic and international environment that mimics the reality of their future workplaces.
