Annual Bioinformatics Program Retreat held
The 2nd Annual Bioinformatics Program Retreat took place in June, 2011. Approximately 50 MS and PhD students attended, including all IGERT trainees and students from the BU-NIH Graduate Partnership Program. Activities included talks given by four program alumni on the theme “Career Development and the Future in Bioinformatics," a keynote address by Professor James Galagan describing the approach taken by his group towards understanding metabolic networks involved in lipid biosynthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and a “Town Hall Forum” on topics concerning the evolution and improvement of the Bioinformatics Program. The retreats were started as a direct result of the IGERT grant.
