Trainee selected as Frontline Scholar for TEDMED
IGERT trainee Teresa Wang was selected as a Frontline Scholar for TEDMED 2012. On April 10th, Teresa joined 1500 delegates from diverse fields of academia, government and technology in Washington, DC for a three and a half day conference to address how scientific innovation is shaping the future of health and medicine. As Teresa is interested in the genomics of tobacco smoke exposure and the early detection of lung cancer, the opportunity to engage in discussion with leaders in the field of translational science and public health was an invaluable learning experience. Speakers ranged from Francis Collins the Director of the National Institutes of Health, to Thomas Frieden the Director of the Centers for Disease Control. Teresa also maintained a blog throughout the conference to share her experiences with the BU Bioinformatics community.
