Trainee develops Fellowship Application Workshop
IGERT trainee Sara Garamszegi developed, organized, and presented a Fellowship Application Workshop in October 2011, for first and second year Bioinformatics students, describing the process of applying for an external fellowship, such as the NSF GRFP, or the HHMI fellowship program. The workshop, presented over three days, covered how to 1) identify appropriate fellowships, 2) determine eligibility, 3) identify mentors and advisors, and 4) organize an application. In addition, the seminar presented information about how to structure, write, and edit essays required for fellowships, including personal statements, descriptions of previous research, and research proposals.
