Education Achievements
Course enhanced by internationally known researchers
The Computational Transportation Science Principles course was taught in Fall, 2011. The student curriculum was enriched by the presence in Chicago of several internationally known researchers in transportation science who were attending the 19th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems. Drs. Vonu Thakuriah and Ouri Wolfson, who co-taught the CTS Principles course, also organized a workshop in transportation science as part of the SIGSPATIAL conference proceedings. In Chicago for the conference and workshop, Dr. Glenn Geers of Australia, Technology Director of the Infrastructure, Transport & Logistics Business Team for NICTA, and Dr. Christian Jensen of Denmark, Professor of Computer Science, Aarhus University and IEEE Fellow, participated in class lectures at UIC.
