Engineering method applied to hypothesis in anthropology
Brian Richmond (PI) and IGERT Trainee Janine Chalk brought a well-known engineering method, Finite Element Analysis, to bear on major hypotheses in anthropology about how skulls are adapted to the stresses involved in chewing. This research was published as the cover article of the American Journal of Physical Anthropology (May, 2011).
