Trainees participate in public education programs
CASHP graduate students Kevin Hatala and Kes Schroer were recruited by Dr. Briana Pobiner (CASHP resource faculty and Director of Education and Public Outreach for the Smithsonian NMNH Human Origins Program) to participate in public education programs at the National Museum of Natural History. One of these programs, ‘HOT (Human Origins Today) Topics’, involves the presentation of recent research in a podium lecture format to museum guests. For the other program, ‘The Scientist is In’, researchers are stationed in the NMNH Hall of Human Origins and bring hands-on props to help answer questions from museum visitors. Both of these experiences have provided invaluable experience for these CASHP students in presenting their research to the general public.
