Trainees organize symposium in nanoscience
A trainee organized 2-day symposium on collaborative approaches to nanoscience research was widely attended by over 50 students and researchers in 8 departments. This symposium brought together prominent researchers from Rice University, University of Texas at Dallas, Clemson University as well as former DARPA manager, Jane Alexander. The symposium focused on cutting edge research in the fields of plasmonics, nanoscience spectroscopy and imaging, molecular nanoprobes and carbon nanotubes, as well as highlighting research being done on the UT campus through the IGERT program. In addition, two talks focused on collaborations and funding. The symposium gave participants an overview of collaborative research in nanoscience being done across the country and gave an insight into funding approaches.
