IGERT student Levi Keesecker, who is also a GRFP fellow, was awarded an NSF Nordic Research Opportunity and will spend a semester at the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC), Stockholm University in Sweden. His project, Social-Ecological Network Analysis to Improve Landscape Connectivity and Natural Resource Governance in the Volcánica Central–Talamanca Biological Corridor in Costa Rica has three main objectives. He will use multigraph analysis to model landscape connectivity for biodiversity and invasive species in the corridor, use social network analysis to identify stakeholders that are key players in the corridor to facilitate the communication of the results of Objective 1, and evaluate whether landscape networks constructed from diffusion models adequately capture patch connectivity. He also will conduct a Toolbox exercise with students at SRC. The proposed activities will enhance international, cross-disciplinary collaboration between students and faculty at SRC, UI, and CATIE.
