IGERT hosts regional symposium on bio-membranes
The IGERT PI in conjunction with a related IGERT Grant awarded to the University of Kentucky entitled “Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices” (DGE-0653710) co-sponsored a regional symposium. Experts in biomembrane sciences from academia, industry and government were recruited to attend and speak at the one-day symposium, entitled “Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Symposium on Applications of Bio-membranes in Science and Technology”. The speakers presented relevant research material and led discussions comparing and contrasting future career opportunities for students in government, academia and industry. The symposium also presented a unique opportunity for IGERT students to showcase their research projects through a poster session as well as engage experts from various disciplines and students from other regional universities about their own research. This experience offered valuable experience for the students to present, discuss, and defend their research.
