Achievement

In May 2012, two representatives from the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property (OIP) provided a workshop to MCTP trainees regarding applications of research beyond the laboratory, including technology commercialization efforts that impact the global economy. Inspired by this, trainee Yang Cao pursued an internship at the OIP. Yang assisted OIP officers in projects related to marketing, technology assessment, prior art analysis, competitive analysis and market landscape analysis for UCLA inventions from wide range of disciplines. Because of her bilingual background, Yang was also able to offer an unique service in translating a visit with Chinese delegation interested in collaboration with OIP. Yang expects to pursue a career in technology transfer with the potential opportunity to bridge across the U.S. and China communities.
