Achievement

A new Professional Seminar was developed by P.I. Paul Smolensky, in which all trainees (including those funded in the past) participated. Topics included success in graduate school, the process of publishing, managing the academic job market, the road to tenure, non-academic career opportunities in our area, sexual harassment and discrimination, managing stress and 'having a life' as well as a career, and other issues. Each core faculty member contributed to some topics, and multiple on-line and printed sources were used, exposing trainees to a variety of perspectives on these issues. Trainees judged the class to be highly valuable.
