Localization of capsule endoscopes
IGERT Trainee Katie Popek (formerly Katie Miller) has shown that the same permanent magnet that is being used to actuate capsule endoscopes can also be used as a magnetic-field source for localization of the capsule. Katie is co-advised by Dr. Thomas Schmid in Electrical and Computer Engineering. This project combines Katie’s background in electrical engineering with Jake Abbott’s background in magnetic manipulation and Thomas Schmid’s background in small embedded systems.
