Quadcopter drone perching project
Many IGERT personnel, including IGERT faculty Minor and Abbott and Trainees Doyle, Bareiss, Dunlop, and King collaborated on a quadcopter drone perching project inspired by avian biomechanics. A perched quadcopter saves energy, and this mechanism uses the wait of the drone to maintain grip, similar to birds on a branch. The project resulted in several papers, including a recent journal article in IEEE Transactions in Mechatronics.
