Trainees, associates research solar cells from from earth abundant elements
SEIGERT trainees and associates from different disciplines including chemical engineering, chemistry, material science and engineering, physics and electrical engineering were co-located to perform highly interdisciplinary research on solar cells from earth abundant elements. This was accomplished both at Purdue and Delaware. Daily interaction among these students has led to multiple interdisciplinary papers in highly cited journals. During weekly group meetings, students discuss and learn knowledge across their own discipline. SEIGERT interdisciplinary course ‘System Analysis of Energy Production’ was further refined during its second offering. Plan to convert the developed lecture material into a book is being considered.
