Fellows developing lab experiments for Solar Electric Technology and Applications course

Three IGERT students at University of Delaware are developing a set of three laboratory experiments to incorporate in ELEG 628: Solar Electric Technology and Applications offered in the Electrical Engineering Department.

Lab 1 will cover series and parallel module configuration, series and parallel resistance, and generating IV curve for a module using variable resistors;

Lab 2 will cover effect of tilt, azimuth, shading, cooling on module output;

Lab 3 will cover battery charging from PV, state-of-charge, DC/AC conversion, and energy loss analysis.

All these labs will use the Mobile Solar Experimental System which was developed under the UD Solar Hydrogen program IGERT. Lab 1 has been completed and is undergoing ‘beta’ testing.
