Trainee completes policy fellowship with EPA Western Ecological Division
Chris Kelley spent his three month policy fellowship working the EPA Western Ecological Division in Corvallis, OR on a regional assessment of Nitrate in ground water. His work produced a report for the Southern Willamette Valley Groundwater Management Area Council on probable sources of nitrate and remediation strategies to reduce nitrate leaching in the southern Willamette Valley. His fellowship mentor described his success by writing, “Chris also excelled in communicating this information. He gave a great presentation to the GWMA group in October 2012. He presented his hard work in detail but also displayed a keen sense of how to simplify and present information while still demonstrating his knowledge and expertise… Being able to stand up in front of a large group of farmers, county commissioners and community members and present information in a clear and convincing way is a rare and valuable skill.”
